Integration course (Integrationskurs) in 2026: access and changes
Integrationskurs — state-run German language and orientation courses. In 2026 access for newcomers was restricted; we explain the situation.
Integrationskurs — a state course run by BAMF: about 700 hours of German plus an orientation course on law, society and life in Germany. It ends with exams (language and “Leben in Deutschland”).
What is important to know (as of 2026):
- since February 2026 BAMF has suspended NEW admissions to integration courses, including for Ukrainians, due to a lack of funding;
- admissions already issued (Berechtigung) remain valid;
- you can try to obtain a referral through the Job-Center (the conditions are checked) or enrol with a provider as a fee-paying participant.
What to do:
- check whether you have a previously issued admission — it can still get you a place;
- ask the Job-Center / the employment agency about the possibility of a referral;
- look for courses and providers in the BAMF-NAvI system.
Access policy is changing — check the current conditions on the official BAMF website.
